Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Prompt Response:  A strength of this class I anticipate will be the level of interest I have in the course material. Like for the origin myth assessment we just took, even though I'm usually stressed about assessments, I found the story pleasant and had a fun time with it. A weakness that I have noticed is in my reading speed, which was shown to me when my peers were much faster at reading through The Jealous Father than I was. I will try to adapt to this challenge by making an effort to read more at home so I can improve my speed and comprehension. Summary: We took an assessment task and continued to work on our presentations due Sunday at 5pm. Reflection:  I really enjoyed the origin story about the robin.

Prompt: Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt Response:  A time when jealousy negatively affected a relationship was when my brother tried to steal my laptop. He kept on trying to take it when I was using it, and I ended up lashing out and giving him a black eye. We didn't talk in full sentences for almost a year after that, which is mostly due to my being one and a half years old, and it was just a toy laptop. Summary: We read about "The Jealous Father" Reflection:  I learned about native american folktales and that they are quite fascinating.

Prompt: Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

Prompt Response:   Probably the most meaningful place in my life is my room in my mom's house. I have lived in my house for approximately 10 years out of my 16 of being alive and it has built a significance in my life that can't be understated. It is a place that I have a high amount of control over and seeing it grow with my tastes and my life has been very interesting. Summary: We read a Native American myth and were given an assingment.  Reflection: I learned the difference between mythology and religion when it comes to literature.

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt Response:   When I was going to black canyon national park, I felt a very acute connection to nature. The expansiveness of the landmark really put into perspective how we as humans, no matter how much we want to think, are really a small part of the bigger picture. This was really my first experience so far detached from the city, and the experience is something I think about frequently. Summary: We took notes on Native American literature and culture, and different types of narrative devices (myths, legends, religions, etc) Reflection:  I learned about prevalent themes in folklore.
